Golden Gate Railroad Museum's Southern Pacific Engine #2472 traveling through Niles Canyon, California.

From what I understand, this is just a temporary home for this beautiful locomotive. Niles Canyon Railway's normal operations vary from diesel to much smaller tank steam engines.

Even though the 2472 has only been running through niles for a couple years now Im still upset I wasnt aware of the railway's existence my whole life. It was always roaring camp for me if I wanted a quick steam getaway.

I have been on the Roaring camp steam train a couple of times, but I never rode on the beach train to Santa Cruz.

I havnt been on the beach train since I was little. Id do it every year if it were run by a steamer
